Subject: record in Ireland

I have a friend who livied in Northrn Ireland and was convicted along with a few friends of  having marijuana in her posession. She would have had to go to jail, but left the North.  This was 6  years ago.  Will this effect her  getting a visa to move to Canada?  Will there be problems at Canadian customs?  Do they flag your passport?
